Am watching the debate between the various British parties led by Nick Clegg (Social Democrats), David Cameron (Tories) and Gordon Brown (Labour).
As an American, what I'm hearing scares me. Pretty much every question that I've heard (I tuned in about half an hour into it) is about "What can you do for me?"
I'm watching politicians bidding on the best way to buy their constituents votes. With taxpayers money.
No one seems to think that maybe the citizens should take of themselves for a change.
This is exactly why I joined the Tea Party. Self determination.
I want to be responsible for myself and for my family. I don't want to go to a politician with hat in hand, begging for scraps to ease my life. We are giving politicians too much power by letting them determine how to divide the pie, to determine which constituency gets more and which less.
The pie will never be big enough.
And after everyone has fought for his piece, there's nothing left. Well, we're left with debt and an uncertain future for our children.
I don't want to become like the British, who will be voting for the politician who gets to promise them the biggest wedge of the pie.
This is why November is so important. If we lose in November, we'll be well on our way to becoming like the British again.
I doubt the Founding Fathers will find that amusing.
