USA Today notices that 47 doctors are running for Congress this year; of those, 41 are Republicans.
There are currently 16 doctors in Congress, 11 of whom are Republicans.
(Of course, sometimes when you elect a doctor, you end up with Howard Dean.)
UPDATE: A dental-minded reader informs me that USA Today failed to mention the two dentists running – Paul Gosar in AZ-01 and Lee Hawkins in GA-09, both are Republicans.
I wonder if either have ever chanted, "drill, baby, drill"?
It's not just doctors and dentists, either. At least 28 military veterans are running for Congress as Republicans, including Lt. Col. Allen West from Florida.
